Hello Friends of the Silver Lake Film Festival,

We wanted to let everyone know, in this difficult time, that we have decided to go ahead with the Silver Lake Film Festival.

We had serious discussions about postponement or cancellation and ultimately decided that it was best to forge ahead. We sincerely hope everyone has made contact with their New York and Washington DC family and friends and that all are okay. We send out heart-felt condolences for anyone who has been personally touched by the tragedy.

Additionally, we have met with the Red Cross and we are officially authorized to accept donations on their behalf, which we will forward to them at the close of the fesitval. Before each screening and at the ticket sales desks, we will show our strength as a community and Silver Lake spirit by raising funds for the relief effort for our friends who have been affected by these terrible events. Look for the Red Cross posters and signs.

If anything, we hope the SLFF can offer a bit of distraction and replace some of the images that have haunted us all over the last few days with what we believe are great examples of humanity reflected in the amazing films we have to present to the public over the eight-days of the festival, beginning this Sunday. Cassandra Peterson has confirmed that she will be present on Sunday night, for the opening of the festival.
